Illuminate

Planner Company Branding

Article Image

Illuminate is a brand of custom planners for people in all professions. The customer is able to order specific, pre-made planner packs or customize their own pages. It is important to keep it simple, as well as having an easy to use interface in the website.

I've been bullet journaling for the past three years and I love it. It has been a mix of organization as well being an easy artistic outlet. However, it does take time, which is why I came up with Illuminate. People say that they would love to have their own unique planner, but just don't have the time to actually do it. With Illuminate, I hope to make it possible for anybody to have the customization of a bullet journal, even if they don't have the time to create it from scratch.

Although a handlettered logo would be better, I chose to use Magnolia Sky. It is fun and playful, but still legible. The lightbulb signifies, intelligence, or the moment when an idea pops into your head. The combination of the two make Illuminate a fun and productive brand.

Colors

The colors chosen, are fairly neutral appealing to a more professional audience. Inside the planner it is the customers choice to liven up the inside or keep it simple.

Typography

The main typeface used is Coves. Bold for headers, and light for body text. I loved the very circular Os, and pointed apexes of the A and M. It looks clean and professional like the rest of the brand. Didot, is one of my favorite serif typefaces. There is large contrast between the up and downstrokes, making it appear stylish and visually pleasing.

Posters and Advertising

The three posters are advertising Illuminate's booth at a Los Angeles market. Two of the posters are for artsy people who enjoy creating custom design, whereas the middle one is meant for a more professional person, who needs customization to keep their schedule organized.
